THE PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION OF THE DIGITAL REPOSITORY OF HISTORY AND MEMORY OF EPT 145 112

Abstract

This reflection presents the photographic collection available for virtual consultation in the Digital Repository “History and Memory of EPT” – HeMEPT. The repository was created by the Research Group História, Educação e Docência (GPHEDo) as a result of the research project “Digitization of the Institutional Collection as a Possibility for Preserving the Memory of Professional and Technological Education,” registered and funded by IFSul, FAPERGS, and CNPq. Currently, HeMEPT provides access to a variety of digital documents, with emphasis on graduation boards and photographs produced between the 1930s and 1959. These materials capture significant institutional moments and reveal aspects of the school culture of the period, depicting ceremonies, pedagogical activities, and sports practices. The digitization of these records ensures their preservation and broadens public access, enabling new interpretations of the history of IFSul – Pelotas Campus and of Professional and Technological Education in Brazil. At the same time, it contributes to recovering silenced narratives, such as women’s presence at the institution, and offers a fertile field for historical research that uses images as sources or objects of analysis.
