Abstract

This article is the result of a research project titled "School Inclusion of Children with Disabilities in the Municipal Education Network of Óbidos/Pará." Its main focus is to investigate Special Education in the context of the Amazon of Pará, with an emphasis on inclusive practices, aiming to analyze the process of school inclusion of children with disabilities in the early years of Elementary Education. The idea of an inclusive society is based on a philosophy that recognizes and values differences. Its proposal reflects an old aspiration, which is to provide quality education to every citizen, seeking to remove learning barriers and creating constructive spaces for inclusion. In this regard, the school stands out as one of the main spaces for social interaction, knowledge exchange, and citizenship building. From a methodological perspective, field research was conducted, both exploratory and documentary in nature. In this way, we analyzed that the inclusion process is still understood as merely the physical presence of the student, rather than as an integral part of the whole. Few educators are able to perceive the difference that school inclusion makes in the student's life, seeing in the school the real possibility of socio-educational equity.
