The study highlights education as a planned process aimed at the holistic development of students, emphasizing early childhood as a crucial period of rapid growth and development. The main objective is to understand the importance of using games in teaching mathematics to children in this phase, through a qualitative literature review. The methodology values playful approaches, providing meaningful and enjoyable learning, focusing on specific strategies for early childhood education. The results indicate that early math learning should focus on two main areas: number representation and operations, as well as the description of shapes and space. Time spent playing with toys and games contributes to the development of mathematical skills and interests. The study concludes that effective mathematics teaching, integrated into children’s daily lives, is essential for cognitive skill development from an early age. To achieve this, school curricula and learning environments should offer activities that allow children to identify, relate, and enhance their mathematical abilities in a practical and engaging way, ensuring they acquire fundamental skills for their future.
