SUSTAINABILITY AND WORKFORCE RESKILLING CHALLENGES

The Fourth Industrial Revolution refers to the fusion of digital, physical, and biological technologies that affect productive sectors and society as a whole. This article seeks to analyze its main characteristics, as well as some of its social and economic implications based on recent trends in this new scenario. A literature search was conducted through an analysis of academic literature, reports from related organizations, and case studies. The findings indicate that, while new technological breakthroughs, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), are beneficial in terms of efficiency and innovation, they also present ethical challenges, such as data privacy protection and unequal access to new technologies. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing the way we earn money, favoring flexible and remote collaboration. As automation and the adoption of artificial intelligence increase, skill requirements are shifting, making workforce reskilling a necessity. The findings indicate the importance of an ongoing conversation among stakeholders to establish policies that promote a just and sustainable social transformation in light of the changes due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
