Abstract

This study aims to present the profile of students assisted by the student assistance programs at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), based on data collected by the social work team during the implementation of the Proae Assistance 04/2021 Notice, an instrument that facilitates access to the Student Assistance Policy benefits at the institution. Understanding the profile of public policy beneficiaries is of fundamental importance for the creation, evaluation, and reformulation of related programs, in this case, the National Student Assistance Program (PNAES), based on the reality of the target audience of these actions. Based on the data, the thesis is supported that the students applying for assistance have a profile that requires qualified support during their academic training. From a comprehensive analysis, it is necessary that the concept of student assistance goes beyond priority assistance, with expanded budgeting/financing to cover all ten areas outlined by PNAES, and act in coordination with other university sectors.

  • Merielle Martins Alves, Federal University of Uberlândia

    Master's student in the Graduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), in the research line of Work, Society, and Education, specialist in Public Policy Management from PROMINAS College (2021), specialist in Social Work with Families from the Catholic College of Uberlândia (2013-2014), and holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the State University of Montes Claros (UNIMONTES 2008/2011). She worked as a social worker at the Municipal City Hall of Uberlândia (2012-2014), the Municipal City Hall of Belo Horizonte (2014-2015), held the permanent position of Public Management and Policy Analyst in Development/Social Work at the State Department of Labor and Social Development - SEDESE-MG (2015-2016), and currently works as a social worker in the Division of Social Assistance and Guidance (Diase) at the Federal University of Uberlândia - UFU.

  • Clara Rodrigues da Cunha Oliveira, Federal University of Uberlândia

    She holds a degree in Social Work from the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2010). Specialization in Social Work Tools from the Cândido Mendes University (2016). She is currently a Social Worker at the Office of Student Assistance at the Federal University of Uberlândia.
