Abstract

In the relationship between deaf individuals and music, there is a socially imposed culture that deaf people cannot experience music; hearing individuals believe that good auditory ability is necessary for musical experiences. The objective of this systematic review was to map Brazilian and international scientific production on deafness and music in two databases: CAPES and Science Direct. The time frame used was from 2000 to 2024. A bibliometric study was conducted using PRISMA and the PARSIFAL platform. As a criterion for article selection, the keywords “música” OR “music” AND “Surdos” OR “def” were used. In the initial screening, sixty-five articles focused on studies about deafness and music. The results of this search identified that the majority of articles on this topic—61.5%—are published in CAPES journals. The review showed that, out of the 65 articles, only 35 presented some relation between deafness and music. This indicates a growth in publications on the subject at the end of 2024, demonstrating increasing scientific interest. Only one article was authored by a deaf person, and none of the articles are situated within the STS field.

    Post-Doctorate in Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2016) as a CAPES Fellow, PhD in Psychology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2009), a master's degree (2004) in Child and Adolescent Psychology and a degree in Psychology from the Federal University of Paraná ( 1990). Specialist in Social Pedagogy from the Portuguese Catholic University. Works with projects that discuss Technology and Work, Occupational Health and Professional Guidance and Career Planning. Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Human Sciences (DAFCH) at the Federal Technological University of Paraná, as an undergraduate she teaches Work Psychology and Career Planning. Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Technology and Society - PPGTE, she is a master's and doctorate advisor, scientific and technological initiation and extension projects. He works in the Technology and Work research line and teaches Research Methodology, Technology and Society and Cultural Dimensions of Technology. and the VIPAT International Group, Violência en la Pareja at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Participates in Career Research Groups at ANPEPP. Coordinator of the Lev Vygotsky Reading Group Extension Project and Coordinates the TUTOR Laboratory - Technology, Work and Guidance. Currently participates in ALFEPSI, Latin American Psychology Association, and the Association, ABRAPSO, Brazilian Association of Social Psychology, and ABRAPEE, Brazilian Association of School and Educational Psychology
