PRODUCTION OF CARE FOR ADOLESCENTS IN FOSTER HOMES

This study contributes to expanding knowledge about care for adolescents in the context of Special Social Protection. It selects institutional sheltering of adolescents as a point of reflection, based on the experience of professionals working in Highly Complex Specialized Protection. This is a qualitative study of a phenomenological nature. Study participants: Professionals from the technical team of an institutional shelter unit for adolescents psychologist and social workers in order to offer recognition and legitimacy to the experience portrayed. The Narrative Interview and the Researcher's Field Diary were used as instruments for data collection. For the analysis, Gadamer's notion of interpretative understanding from Hermeneutics was chosen to interpret the collected data. The results revealed significant gaps in mental health care practices for sheltered adolescents, highlighting the need for a critical analysis of the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political, and technical-operational aspects that permeate interventions. It is observed that manuals, guidelines, and care protocols do not fully address the particularities of the reality of those assisted, demanding theoretical-clinical reflection in the implementation of contextualized and effective practices. In this sense, the strengthening of network flow and the articulation between services is reignited, promoting integrated action to guarantee the rights of institutionalized adolescents, as well as the sharing of experiences among involved professionals, favoring co-responsibility and joint interventions with families, thus enhancing the provision of care and the effectiveness of support actions.
