Tratamiento Térmico de Residuos Agrícolas como Alternativa para la Producción de Biocombustibles Sólidos

Brasil se destaca en la composición de su matriz energética, con los biocombustibles desempeñando un papel importante y diversas materias primas que necesitan más estudio. Este artículo tiene como objetivo evaluar el efecto de la aplicación de tratamiento térmico en diferentes especies de biomasa para mejorar sus características energéticas mediante el análisis de composición química inmediata (estandarizado por la American Society for Testing and Materials), espectroscopia en la región del infrarrojo y termogravimetría. El artículo detalla el potencial energético de cada biomasa, estableciendo los procesos de torrefacción con mayor rendimiento a partir de residuos agrícolas de maní (Arachis hypogaea L.), cacao (Theobroma cacao L.), caña de azúcar (Saccharum spp.), coco (Cocos nucifera L.), palma de aceite (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) y papaya (Carica papaya L.). El tratamiento térmico de la biomasa demostró ser eficaz para obtener un biocombustible sólido con mayor poder calorífico, diagnosticado mediante análisis químicos inmediatos.
