BAJA DISPONIBILIDAD ENERGÉTICA Y RIESGO DE TRASTORNOS ALIMENTARIOS EN MUJERES ATLETAS

La Baja Disponibilidad Energética (BDE) ha sido reconocida como un factor crítico para la salud de las mujeres atletas, estando asociada a importantes consecuencias fisiológicas, metabólicas y psicológicas. En contextos deportivos que valoran la estética o exigen control del peso corporal, la BDE surge como resultado de la restricción calórica, el exceso de entrenamiento o ambos, comprometiendo funciones hormonales, reproductivas, cognitivas e inmunológicas. El objetivo de este estudio fue revisar y discutir las evidencias sobre la relación entre la BDE y el riesgo de Trastornos Alimentarios (TA) en mujeres atletas. Se consultaron publicaciones indexadas entre 2005 y 2024. Los hallazgos sugieren que, aunque no todos los estudios presentan una correlación significativa, existen indicios consistentes de que el desequilibrio energético puede favorecer alteraciones en el comportamiento alimentario, especialmente cuando se asocia con insatisfacción corporal, presión por el rendimiento e influencias socioculturales, como el uso de redes sociales. Factores como la privación del sueño, las alteraciones del estado de ánimo, la desregulación neuroendocrina y la reducción de la masa ósea también aparecen como efectos asociados. La literatura señala la necesidad de estrategias preventivas, destacando la educación nutricional y el apoyo psicológico integrado. La BDE constituye un riesgo multifactorial que requiere reconocimiento temprano e intervenciones interdisciplinarias para preservar el bienestar físico y mental de esta población.
