Abstract

This paper addresses the strategies and challenges involved in protecting the neighborhoods of listed properties, taking into account the impact of urban transformations and the preservation of collective memory. The objective of the study was to analyze how urban development affects the integrity of these heritage sites and to propose guidelines that reconcile cultural conservation with the growth of cities. The methodology used was based on a comprehensive bibliographic review of scientific articles, legislation and case studies related to heritage protection and neighborhood management. Unbridled development, real estate speculation and gentrification are factors that threaten the preservation of the surroundings of listed properties, in addition to demonstrating the importance of community participation for the effectiveness of protection policies. The conclusion points to the need for integrated public policies that promote a balance between modernization and conservation, highlighting the relevance of sustainable technologies and the appreciation of local memories as fundamental components for the management of cultural heritage.

Dandara Christine Alves de Amorim, University Center of Vale do Araguaia

Doctoral candidate in Law at the University of the West of Santa Catarina (UNOESC). Holds a Master’s degree in Territorial Development and Planning from the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás (PUC-GO) and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies, Memory and Heritage at the State University of Goiás (UEG). Licensed lawyer, regularly registered with the OAB/MT. Serves as coordinator and professor of the Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the University Center of Vale do Araguaia (Univar).
