This article proposes an analysis of the concept of forgiveness for Paul Ricoeur – establishing a synthesis of this approach, in addition to establishing a dialogue with memory and the contradiction of amnesty, which was criticized by the French philosopher. To this end, Ricoeur's studies and texts by other authors who deal with this same theme and conceptual adjacencies were used as theoretical references. This is a bibliographical research that seeks to understand both the intersection between memory and forgiveness from a dialogical and theoretical perspective, as well as the contributions of these studies to society.
