Intimate partner violence (IPV) in same-sex relationships faces stereotypes that render it invisible in public policies. The objective of this theoretical study was to reflect on psychosocial factors that help to understand this phenomenon, as well as to promote reflective suggestions for addressing this demand within public policy. Methodologically, this is a theoretical study, following the steps proposed by Filho and Struchiner (2021). We understand that IPV in same-sex relationships involves the intertwining of various identity categories such as gender, race, class, disability, etc. It is noted that methodological and attitudinal barriers resulting from discrimination hinder the availability of accurate data on same-sex IPV, which contributes to victims in this context experiencing a Foucauldian form of ‘letting die,’ operationalized through a permanent state of exception, which may reach the level of necropolitics when the intersecting identities involved are considered.
