  • When available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The manuscript fully follows the guidelines established in the guidelines for authors of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies.
  • The submitted manuscript complies with the template available on the journal's website. Available at: https://revistas.ceeinter.com.br/revistadeestudosinterdisciplinar/TEMPLATES

Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies accepts contributions from master's students, master's holders, doctoral students, doctoral holders, and postdoctoral researchers. Articles from master's students and master's holders will only be accepted if written in co-authorship with a doctoral holder.

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies reserves the right to refuse to evaluate more than one submission per author per year or while the evaluation of a previous submission is still pending.

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies does not accept papers that are under review by another journal. In cases of works partially published in events – whether as abstracts, expanded abstracts, and/or articles – it must be stated in a footnote that the text was previously published, underwent significant modifications, and therefore meets the criteria for originality.

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies recommends that articles be submitted with an English translation to aim for a broader reach of the publication. However, publication in Portuguese and/or Spanish alone does not prevent evaluation and subsequent acceptance.

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) will be assigned to all manuscripts published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies.

Submissions must be made exclusively through the website: https://revistas.ceeinter.com.br/revistadeestudosinterdisciplinar/index.

All fields are mandatory, including the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), and must be provided in full. All authors must complete the biography summary.

It is essential that all metadata required by the system be properly filled out in all submission types. Incorrect metadata completion may result in the work not being considered. It is important to emphasize that including information in the metadata does not replace submitting the forms mentioned in the section "Presentation Letter of the Authors".

FORMAT AND STRUCTURE OF TECHNICAL PRODUCTS

he Technical Products accepted in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies are tangible results of teaching or student activities and can be carried out individually or in groups. These products can be touched, viewed, read, among others, and are created before the access of the client or recipient. There is no specific standard for presenting these Technical Products, but they must follow the guidelines and be submitted in a template provided by the journal.

The guidelines regarding the Technical Products accepted in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies follow the directives available in the Technical Production Working Group of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), available at the following link: https://www.gov.br/capes/pt-br/centrais-de-conteudo/10062019-producao-tecnica-pdf.

The Technical Products can be derived from the application of new scientific knowledge, techniques, and expertise developed within the scope of postgraduate research. To differentiate a Technical Product from a Technological Product, four criteria are considered:

IMPACT: refers to the changes caused by the introduction of the Product in the social environment. It is necessary to assess the reason for its creation and the focus of the Product’s application, considering the client's demand.

APPLICABILITY: is related to the ease of using the Product to achieve its objectives. This includes the scope achieved, the potential scope, and the replicability.

INNOVATION: involves the extent of the use of novel knowledge in the creation of the Product. A high level of innovation implies development based on new knowledge, while a low level of innovation refers to the adaptation of existing knowledge.

COMPLEXITY: refers to the diversity of actors, relationships, and knowledge required for the creation and development of the Product. High complexity involves the synergy of different types of knowledge and the interaction of multiple actors, while low complexity results from the adaptation of existing knowledge.

Thus, the Technical Products can range from entirely innovative creations to adaptations of pre-existing knowledge. The evaluation of these criteria allows for the classification of the Products as Technical or Technological. It is important to highlight that the Product's alignment with the research line and the associated project is a mandatory criterion. The areas should detail the above criteria to assist in the stratification of the chosen Products.

SUBMISSION OF FILES

The files must be in DOC, DOCX, Open Office, or RTF formats.

By strictly following these guidelines, you will contribute to the uniformity and quality of the articles published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. These standards aim to enhance the reading experience and facilitate the dissemination of high-quality interdisciplinary knowledge.

CITATION AND REFERENCE GUIDELINES

SHORT DIRECT QUOTATIONS (UP TO 3 LINES): short direct quotations should be placed in quotation marks within the body of the text, without italicization, and followed by the author's name in parentheses, with the last name, year, and page number. For example: “The curriculum is, consequently, a device with a significant effect on the process of constructing the student’s identity” (Apple, 2011, p. 71). If the author's name is mentioned in the body of the text, it should appear as follows: “As Thomas Popkewitz (2011, p. 174) explains, ‘what is inscribed in the curriculum is not merely information – the organization of knowledge embodies particular ways of acting, feeling, speaking, and ‘seeing’ the world and the ‘self’.’”

LONG DIRECT QUOTATIONS (MORE THAN 3 LINES): long direct quotations should be presented in a separate paragraph, with a 4 cm left indent, justified alignment, single line spacing, and 1.5 spacing before and after the quotation. The font should be Times New Roman, size 10, without quotation marks or italics. The author’s name is indicated in parentheses with the last name, year, and page number. Example:

The knowledge typically associated with schooling will be addressed, when relevant to the themes, as one of the multiple possible formulations of the topic. Beyond the clarification of this multiplicity of discourses, however, it is necessary to discuss the power relations that ensure the (in)visibility of some of them (Lopes; Macedo, 2011, p. 67).

INDIRECT QUOTATION (PARAPHRASE): indirect quotations are paraphrases based on the ideas or opinions of an author. Only the author's last name and the year of publication are identified, using the same font as the body of the text (Times New Roman, size 12). The page number is not required. Examples:

In the body of the text: only the first letter of the author(s)' last name(s) should be capitalized, with the year in parentheses and without the page number.

- In the opinion of Seffner and Picchetti (2016) [...].

- Similarly, Foucault (2015) [...].

At the end of the citation: the author(s)' last name(s) with only the initials capitalized.

... (Braga; Caetano; Ribeiro, 2018).

... (Louro, 2000).

Reference list: follow the guidelines of NBR 6023/2018, which provides examples for books, journals, legislation, conference proceedings, data, among others.

Observe the ethical procedures regarding photographs: photos with people must be accompanied by the consent of the individuals photographed; photos with children or adolescents must comply with current legislation. If the illustrations submitted have already been published, the title, source, and credit must be mentioned.

Board 1 – Phases of Education in the 16th Century

Phase 01

From 1549 to 1556

Basically focused on catechism, especially for indigenous children, and on the Jesuits' adaptation to this new reality, including the Tupi language, which was translated by them.

Phase 02

From1556 to 1570

All Jesuits had access to the constitutions, guiding documents of the educational principles of the Society of Jesus, and a version of the Ratio Studiorum.

Phase 03

From1570 to 1599

As the indigenous people from the coast were decimated and the colonizing model of monoculture, large estates, and slave labor was established, the number of "bê-á-bá" schools decreased and the number of colleges increased.
