Abstract

The present study aimed to associate the physical, cognitive and behavioral health profile with the mortality of patients on hemodialysis. Quantitative, descriptive and retrospective study with chronic kidney disease patients on hemodialysis. Data collection was based on the following research variables: cardiorespiratory fitness, upper and lower limb resistance, handgrip strength, cognitive function, frailty, disability, depression, quality of life and number of steps per day. Pearson's chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were used to relate the variables. Participants were 87 patients with a mean age of 59.79±15.75 years and 50.31±44.18 months of treatment. The percentage of mortality among patients was 25.3%, which was significantly associated with lower members resistance (p=0.009), handgrip strength (p=0.030), physical activity level (p=0.037), cardiorespiratory fitness (p=0.050), basic (p=0.012) and instrumental activities of daily living and frailty (p=0.046). Was concluded that bad health conditions related to lower limb resistance variables, handgrip strength, physical activity level, cardiorespiratory fitness, disability, and frailty can influence mortality, showing that patients with worse physical and behavioral conditions tend to go to death.
