Abstract

This study conducted a systematic literature review on technological advances and digital innovations applied to tomato cultivation (Solanum lycopersicum L.), focusing on emerging technologies associated with Agriculture 4.0. Eighteen articles published between 2016 and 2024 in indexed databases were analyzed, highlighting the use of techniques such as deep learning, hyperspectral spectroscopy, remote sensing, bioelectrochemistry, and three-dimensional modeling. The results reveal significant progress in process automation, physiological monitoring, and early detection of diseases and physiological disorders, enabling greater productivity and sustainability. However, there is a noticeable lack of studies addressing management, economic feasibility, and technology adoption across different production scales. It is concluded that the integration of science, technology, and management is essential to consolidate digital agriculture as a driver of innovation and sustainability, reinforcing the need for interdisciplinary research that links technical advances to the economic and social efficiency of agricultural value chains.
