Abstract

This paper focuses on the study of the public policy for the reservation of slots for admission to federal higher education institutions, established by Federal Law No. 12,711, dated August 29, 2012, and implemented at the Federal University of Pampa, as well as in similar institutions. Through data collection in the courses of Human Sciences and Social Sciences – Political Science, at the São Borja Campus of Unipampa, it was found that a significant percentage of slots remain unoccupied in the surveyed courses. Therefore, this article aims to investigate the level of knowledge of the reservation policy among third-year high school students in schools in the municipality of São Borja. To achieve this, data was collected on enrollment in these courses, and questionnaires were applied to assess the level of knowledge on the topic among third-year high school students. A quantitative analysis was conducted, which concluded that there is a need for investment in disseminating information about the reservation system and its modalities.
