Abstract

Evidence-Based Psychology (EBP) is a decision-making process that integrates the best available scientific evidence, clinical expertise, and the individual preferences of the patient. Studies suggest that, unlike the international scenario, its dissemination in Brazil is limited, as evidenced by its absence in higher education. This research is classified as a quantitative and cross-sectional field study and investigated the presence of EBP in the academic training of Psychology in Paraná, analyzing the curricula of 51 universities that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, registered on the website of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (e-MEC). The results indicated that only 2 universities offer specific courses on EBP, namely UNIGUARACÁ and UNIOPET, highlighting a gap in academic training in Paraná. The absence of specialized professors, lack of institutional support, and academic resistance were identified as some of the possible challenges to its implementation. It is concluded that there is a need to include EBP in the psychology curriculum not only in the state of Paraná but throughout the entire country, thereby improving the quality of psychological services provided to the population, which is the greatest beneficiary of this practice.

Daniel Monteiro Nunes dos Santos, Federal University of Paraná

Advisor: Daniel Monteiro Nunes dos Santos, psychologist CRP 08/36962, master's student in the Graduate Program in Psychology at UFPR. He conducts research in the area of Behavior Analysis and is also a psychotherapist applying evidence-based psychology in the clinical field.
