Abstract

The Squiggle Game, proposed by Donald Winnicott, is a technique based on the creation of shared drawings between therapist and patient, with the aim of fostering symbolic expression and support in clinical practice. This study aims to analyze the productions on this technique from national articles published between 2020 and 2025, in order to specifically examine the contemporary use of Winnicott’s Squiggle Game. The research, of a bibliographic nature, focused on open access articles written in Portuguese and located in the following databases: PePSIC – Periódicos Eletrônicos em Psicologia; SciELO – Scientific Electronic Library Online; BVS – Psicologia Brasil; BVS – Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde; CAPES Journal Portal. The analysis highlighted two distinct approaches: the first, involving the direct application of the technique in the context of child clinical practice; the second, addressing the Squiggle Game as a symbolic inspiration and reflective resource on the process of symbolization. The analysis of the texts allowed us to identify the use of the Squiggle Game as a resource for symbolization and psychic elaboration, especially in child clinical practice. It also revealed the scarcity of recent productions addressing the technique, which underscores the need for further studies on the subject.
