Abstract

The perspective of Occupational Therapy makes it possible to understand the individual in an integral way, considering their neurological, sensory, motor, behavioral, and cognitive aspects, as well as the context in which they are inserted. This view seeks to expand intervention possibilities beyond the traditional clinical setting. This article aims to report the experience of an occupational therapist in assisting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the Amazon region through the Multidisciplinary Inclusive Education Center (NEIAM), linked to the Vale do Trombetas Foundation. The intervention, grounded in the Sensory Integration approach, sought to describe the role of Occupational Therapy in the sensory regulation of children with ASD living in the village of Porto Trombetas, municipality of Oriximiná (PA). It is based on the principle that, through this approach, patients with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) may develop adaptive responses that favor their integral development.
